The region surrounding Ridgecrest offers dramatic desert landscapes including Red Rock Canyon State Park, Trona Pinnacles, and access to the Sierra Nevada mountains and Mojave National Preserve.

Closer to Ridgecrest, the Mojave National Preserve protects diverse desert ecosystems across nine named mountain ranges, with hiking trails ranging from the popular Kelso Dunes to remote wilderness areas.
